Storytelling: Challenge 2 — Daily Annoyances
A daily annoyance didn't seem like much at first. When my team got the chance to explore the daily annoyances of our mentors, I thought that was the problem. Turns out it was just the surface of something bigger.
We split into Desk Research, Observation, and Interview. Using a framework called R.U.J.A.K (Rohani, Uang, Jasmani, Asmara, Keluarga), we explored every part of our user's life to find where the real problem lived. I learned that a good interview doesn't need to be rigid — just guiding questions, and letting it flow like a natural conversation.
What started as a vague annoyance narrowed into this: our user had been eating the exact same oatmeal every lunch for 5 years. She didn't need a brand new meal; she just needed it to feel less repetitive.
So we built an iOS app that gives her flavor variations and highlights the health benefits of what she's already eating.

There's no single right answer in this kind of work — it's all about how close you can get to what the user actually needs.
